We offer a holistic approach to wellbeing and believe a balance between psychological, emotional, mental wellbeing is vital towards achieving a state of inner calm. Our counselling sessions aim to help you explore and free yourself from any distress you may be going through and to heal from within.

We treat each client as a unique being and provide them space, opportunity to connect, explore and become more aware of their inner feelings. This is achieved within a non-judgemental, confidential and therapeutic setting.

Whether it is a personal issue, relationship problems, crisis or feelings of despair and hopelessness, people from all walks of life, at one point or another experience difficulties and distress. This can have an impact on their emotional and psychological well-being. Certain life issues/events can become difficult to deal with such as bereavement, divorce, redundancy, health issues, bullying and so on. Inner Calms Counselling aims to support you on your journey to strive towards a place of inner peace and contentment.

Sessions last for 50-60 minutes and the number of sessions required will be mutually agreed with your therapist, depending on your individual needs. Sessions can take place weekly, fortnightly or even monthly.

How long does each counselling session last?

Each session will usually last 50 minutes to one hour, however, this is often flexible and should be discussed with your therapist before attending the first session.

What do they do in counselling?

A counsellor is a trained, objective professional with whom you can build a therapeutic and trusting relationship. They are trained to offer talk-based therapy, counselling is a process of talking about and working through your personal problems with a counsellor.

How do I know counselling is working for me?

Are you meeting goals or are you making good steady progress toward meeting goals you set initially?

We will work with you to set goals. What do you want from counselling? Where do you hope to be in 3 months, 6 months, a year? We will set initial goals that we can revisit and be conscious of, you may feel different after your first session, however, it’s not always the case as a lot of the time, the issues that need working on take time to heal.

Then you take time every couple of weeks or months to look at those goals you set and see if you are stepping closer to them. Are you getting close to getting into the career you want? Are you yelling at your spouse less and feeling closer? Are you feeling calmer, lighter and more confident? If yes, then counselling seems to be working!

What If I feel I'm healed and don't need therapy anymore?

Counselling is a safe and confidential place for you to grow from strength to strength and once you’ve achieved that you may feel you don’t need any further sessions. Inner Calms is all about wellbeing and focuses on your healing from within. Once you feel you have found your inner calm, we will bring your sessions to a warm close.
