I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I established Inner Calms in 2014, prior to this my passion to support others in their wellbeing journey started as an Aromatherapist in 2008. While working as a Holistic Therapist, it soon becomes apparent how our physical health is connected to our mental and emotional wellbeing, where one state can highly influence the other. After deciding to pursue a career in mental health, I graduated with a BA Hons in Counselling and Psychology in Community Settings. I then went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I now run my private practice known as Sukoon Counselling, where I apply a Person Centred Approach to support individuals towards achieving a balanced state of inner peace (sukoon). Where required, I also use elements of various other models, such as Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. During the counselling process, I aim to offer you a therapeutic and safe space, where you can explore your feelings and any distress you may be experiencing while supporting you to bring upon positive and lasting changes in your life.
Alongside this, I have 10 years of experience working within the mental health sector. I started as a volunteer in a Domestic Violence Organisation, working with vulnerable females affected by mental, emotional and physical abuse. I also work intensively as a group facilitator with South Asian Women, where I have gained in-depth knowledge and insight on the mental health needs of Minority Ethnic Groups. Currently, I work across various GP surgeries as a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner, offering sessions on coping skills for anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem and bereavement.
